Registeration for the seminar

If you want to attend the seminar and / or represent your work (orally) please send an application to Outi Hakola (by email: outi.j.hakola(at)helsinki.fi) by February 19. Describe your work and interest to participate this seminar by few sentences. If you want present your work send also an abstract of maximum 300 words. Presentations are limited to 15 minutes to allow time for discussion. Required pre reading (2 articles) and the acceptance for the seminar will be sent by February 22.

Mieke Bal

Mieke Bal is a cultural theorist and critic. She is currently Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences Professor and is based at the Amsterdam School for cultural Analysis (ASCA). Her areas of interest range from biblical and classical antiquity to 17th century and contemporary art, feminism and migratory culture. She is also a video-artist. Her experimental documentaries on migration include The Mille et un jours, Colony and the installation Nothing is Missing.

Organizer

Seminar and visit are organized by the research project Representing and sensing nature, landscape and gender (The Academy of Finland, directed by Kirsi Saarikangas) in cooperation with the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Ateneum and Finnish Women’s Studies Doctoral School.
