Teasing Out Gender and Agency in Reseach Processes 4.-5.12.2008

The Doctoral School for Women’s Studies in Finland and the Department of Women’s Studies, University of Tampere, organize a

RESEARCH SEMINAR AND COURSE: TEASING OUT GENDER AND AGENCY IN RESEARCH PROCESSES on December 4-5, 2008 Tampere

Teachers:
Dr. Ingunn Moser, Oslo
Professor Maureen McNeil, University of Lancaster

The course participants focus on questions of gender and agency
through the discussion of research processes and concrete empirical studies presented by both the course teachers and other participants.

Teachers will unpack their studies by presenting the concerns that
they had in theoretical, methodological and method questions and the particular intersections of these, and articulating how they built their studies now published and available for the participants as course readings.

The course participants are invited to bring in their own studies on
gender and agency for the discussion on the intersection of theories, methodologies and methods in gender and agency research.

Credits: 2-7 ECTS

The course is meant primarily to (15-20) Post Graduate and Post
Doctoral Students. 8-10 of the participants will give a (work-in-process) paper presentation.

Registration in the research course: intentions to the organizers by
30 September 2008.
